How to be demon-crushing battering ram for God

Written by Eric

Man beasts.

Three hundred pounds of man-moving power.

I’m talking about offensive lineman in American football. They are the most underappreciated players on a football team. Except for maybe a kicker.

On sports talk radio, TV and even among the fans, quarterbacks are idolized. If you listen to any football conversation of any length, you’d quickly think quarterbacks ARE the team. And everyone else are simply “pee-ons” who do the bidding of the quarterback gods.

Sure, quarterbacks throw the ball into tight spaces where only the receiver can catch it. They run out of the pocket away from hulking defensive quarterback hunters to make a play. They relay the play from the coach on the sidelines to the rest of the squad on the fied.

But the reality few really want to admit is…

… the thankless job of an offensive lineman makes quarterbacks look immortal.

While quarterbacks are throwing a pig-skin ball, offensive linemen are tasked with protecting him from those quarterback mauling linebackers. While quarterbacks bark out the play, the offensive linemen are reading their opponents' movements and defensive strategy to respond accordingly. And much more.

Bottom line: any NFL quarterback can look like the next Tom Brady with the right offensive linemen guarding him. And every NFL quarterback will be humiliatingly horrible without a good offensive line.

To tell the truth, my football career was cut short because…

… I wasn’t very good. I knew I would never play at the college level, let alone the pros. In high school, the linemen are big. But in college, the linemen are gargantuan. And at the NFL level, those guys nearly reach Bigfoot status.

I just couldn’t eat enough food or lift weights enough to reach that level. Nor did I want to even try.

But that doesn’t mean I hated my time playing.

No, I had loads of fun. One of the most fun things I ever did playing football was play offensive right guard.

If you don’t know, that’s the position to the right of the center who hikes the ball.

To me, playing right guard on offense was a blast. Because I already knew ahead of time what was going to happen. And the defense had no clue what was coming.

Each play, depending on what the coach called, I had my specific assignment. I got so revved up knowing that in about two to five seconds, I was going to smack into a guy…

…and he had no idea that I was headed his way.

Because I already knew my target, I trained my mind on one thing: leveling him. It might have been a linebacker who thought he was going to rush the quarterback. Or a beefy defensive lineman.

As a right guard, my favorite play of all of them, in my opinion, were the pulling guard plays. Normally, when the ball is snapped, I'd lunge forward to block a defensive player in front of me. But a play when I "pulled" is different.

After the center snapped the ball and the quarterback had it, I didn't lunge forward. I pulled back out of my normal stance between the center and right tackle. Then I hauled like a freight train as fast as I could, parallel to the line of scrimmage. Like a battering ram intent on destroying the gates of a city, I rammed into the person I was assigned to block.

Yeah buddy! That was fun stuff.

It’s not unlike what you need to do to the devil.

One position the body of Christ needs is the spiritually huge offensive lineman who is like a battering ram on the devil’s defensive line.

You don’t have to be a pastor, preacher or even in full-time ministry to make demons run from you. You don’t have to have a name that other people know or be “Instagram famous.” You can be unknown in the world and underappreciated. But you can walk at a level in the spirit that all of heaven and all of hell are aware of who you are.

A demon-crushing battering ram for God.

To do that, you’ll need to “bulk up” spiritually. Eat a lot of good, healthy spiritual food. Pump lots of spiritual iron. Get your heart-pumping-exercise. Train yourself in your position as a highly skilled offensive weapon.

And then…

…let it rip as a God-man beast on the field of battle destroying demons.

And that’s exactly why I’m here. To help train you as a weapon of God against the defensive schemes of the devil.

In my newsletter, I go into depth on different topics that help you hone your strength and skill…

… to plant the devil in the turf.

P.S. Don’t think for one second this is all about football. And just because I didn’t mention something about hearing the voice of God, doesn’t mean this is unrelated. It’s all related. It’s all connected. Because if you truly want to be a demon-crushing battering ram for God, then one of the very first steps is learning to hear God like a Prophet. His voice is life.
