Is it crazy to hear God’s voice? This Irishman says “no”

Written by Eric

Comes a question:

Is it crazy to hear God speak?

For some reason in society there is a stigma surrounding hearing God speak. That is, if you hear God speak to you, you must be crazy.

This reminds me of Stephen the Irishman in the movie Braveheart.

If you’re not familiar with the movie…

Mel Gibson plays William Wallace, a freedom fighter struggling against the oppressive tyranny of English kings and lords.

In one scene, Gibson is in the woods meeting with some of his lieutenants when a couple new volunteers arrive. One is the “crazy man,” Stephen the Irishman.

Here’s how the scene plays out…

Stephen the Irishman: (laughing, then talking seemingly to no one) Him? That can’t be William Wallace. I’m prettier than this man. Alright Father, I’ll ask him!

Stephen the Irishman: (Turning to William Wallace, he asks...) If I risk my neck for you, will I get a chance to kill Englishmen?

Hamish: Is your father a ghost? Or do you converse with the Almighty?

Stephen the Irishman: In order to find his equal, an Irishman is forced to talk to God. Yes Father! The Almighty says, “Don’t change the subject. Just answer the f*** question.”

...(then at the end of the scene)...

Hamish: (to Stephen the Irishman) You’re a madman!

And that’s typically how it goes. Anyone who hears from God is labeled crazy.

Cuckoo.

Nuts.

And many other names.

But is it really crazy to hear God speak to you? Is it all that strange? Think about it…

If bears can communicate with other bears and dogs with other dogs, then why couldn’t God communicate with us?

I mean, the One who made the entire earth, everything in it and every person including you and I, would it be that hard for a God like that to speak to you?

You want to know what is strange?

The fact that we, as spirit beings, have become so desensitized to the voice of God that when God speaks, it’s considered weird.

It’s weird that humanity as a whole has become so unaware of spiritual realities that when someone demonstrates them, people accuse them of witchcraft or practicing magic.

I see it all the time.

Looking off into the distance.

The shuffling feet.

The stuttering over words.

People don’t know what to say or how to react when it comes to the realities of the Spirit. In fact, I’ve seen people literally run away out of fear.

Simply because we have become more accustomed to the natural physical world.

I venture to say, if I were to show 100 people a phone with TikTok or some other social media app, probably 90 out of 100 would be very familiar. But if I show people the realities of the spirit realm, probably less than 2 out of 100 would be even faintly familiar.

I don’t have any hard data to back up my percentages. I can’t point to any scientific studies stating this. Maybe the numbers are a little different. But from my observations, I don’t think I’m very far off.

This is why I’m on a quest. For God’s people to encounter Jesus. For you and I to know God in a whole new and deeper way than we ever thought possible.

It’s time for the world to encounter sons of God who hear the voice of God and speak His words. It’s time for the Voice of God to go out.

And it’s time for it to start with you.
